Head of Protein Development
Headquartered in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, Tagworks Pharmaceuticals is a dynamic biotech company with strong backing from prominent US and European investors. Operating at the Radboud University Medical Center, Tagworks pioneers unique approaches towards antibody-drug conjugates, prodrugs, and targeted radiotherapeutics through its "Click-to-Release'' platform, rooted in Nobel Prize-winning research. To further strengthen the organization, we are looking for a Head of Protein Development.
The position
Our Head of Protein Development is responsible for leading the discovery, design, engineering and development activities of proteins, including antibody fragments and derivatives. Your work covers format research, protein design, bioinformatics, cloning & expression, screening and characterization. Together with the research teams you drive the development of proteins that are optimized for our pipeline of click-cleavable ADCs and other prodrugs. You collaborate with SME’s on protein modeling and engineering and oversee outsourced protein R&D at CROs.
The requirements
- 10+ years experience in protein discovery, design and engineering in a biotech/pharmaceutical environment
- PhD in Bioengineering, Biochemistry or a related field and a good understanding of molecular biology and the state of the art in discovery, design, screening, and development of proteins, ideally antibody fragments and derivatives
- Sufficient experience in computational biology, bioinformatics and data mining to support protein development strategies
- Strategic and innovative thinker with track record of developing creative approaches to tumor targeting and implementation of new technologies
- Demonstrated ability to determine strategic priorities, set goals, and manage resources effectively
- Experience in identifying and evaluating business development opportunities in tumor targeting is favorable
- Experience in integrating and managing CROs to achieve project goals highly desirable
- Skilled at clearly communicating strategy, recommendations, and priorities
- Collaborates and works successfully with multiple key stakeholders and project teams
